Silvern Wood Carving Knives are made using O1 tool steel, solid hardwood handles, and “micarta”-style bolsters for extra stability. The heat treatment is done in-house, resulting in Rockwell hardness of 60-62. These chip carving knives are 1/16″ thick and 1″ long. All knives are ground flat with a slightly convex secondary bevel that you can customize to your preference. All handles measure 5″ in length and around 3/4″ in thickness.
All carving knives with custom handles are made to order.

My fifth Silvern knife. I might have a problem. Ken informed me that I got the first chip carver from his shop. I’m proud to have the first! It’s a great knife, as usual. The chip carving blade is fun for casual whittling on a piece of scrap wood, and it’s going to be real useful for detailed work on more serious carving. The Silvern handle shape is extremely comfortable for smaller, detailed carving. The blade steel is top notch, as usual. Perfect thickness – not too thick and not too thin. The steel temper makes it easily sharpened while still holding an edge for a lot of work. These knives are quality tools that are a pleasure to use. I’m sure I’ll be back for more!
